my maternity series
January 12, 2011With our second child, we set out on a mission to document the pregnancy… the result was an incredible journal that brought me so much closer to my baby than i could have ever imagined. this is my journey…
A little note about the last two journals…
My father, Warren Williams, an outstanding physician and renaissance man, died three days before i delivered my son. he had battled liver cancer and a host of other problems when suddenly he became unresponsive, and we rushed him to the emergency center. i began contractions that night…
my father was the one who introduced me to photography, who took me out in the field to teach me about aperture and shutter speed. he gave me his nikon film camera, which i carried with me throughout my travels in europe. it was my most prized posession. The photography he did in the mid century in Germany is some of the most amazing photography i’ve ever seen.
That’s us when i was little. I still use his camera, his lenses, and his teachings. i think he’d like that :)
*a side note: this maternity series is undoubtedly influenced and inspired by Pacing the Panic Room’s maternity series. Ryan has created a movement of photographers and mothers creating their own documentation of their journey through pregnancy to parenthood. I’m so happy to be able to share my own personal journey with you.
