“In the bottom of an old pond lived some grubs who could not understand why none of their group ever came back after crawling up the lily stems to the top of the water. They promised each other that the next one who was called to make the upward climb would return and tell what had happened to him. Soon one of them felt an urgent impulse to seek the surface; he rested himself on the top of a lily pad and went through a glorious transformation which made him a dragonfly with beautiful wings. In vain he tried to keep his promise. Flying back and forth over the pond, he peered down at his friends below. Then he realized that even if they could see him they would not recognize such a radiant creature as one of their number.
The fact that we cannot see our loved ones or communicate with them after the transformation which we call death is no proof that they cease to exist.”
For my beautiful friend Sarah and her family. a heartbreaking loss of a tiny little life, who is now a beautiful dragonfly.

I treasure you. Your deep, innate sense of how to love someone…and give comfort. Thank you….thank you, my friend.
Hi Lexia, I read this back when Sarah posted it on Facebook (in December). Kolby was my grandson and I read this to Beth. It’s a beautiful story and it touched our hearts. I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you taking the time to think of a way to send comfort and that you shared it with your readers. I have said, over and over, that Kolby touched many hearts in his short 16 days of life here on Earth. He will always be remembered by our family and will always hold a most special place in my heart. I’m sure his glorious transformation has also transformed many spirits who were touched by his will to survive after being born so soon. Yes, it is a heartbreaking loss, but we have so much to be grateful for, and I continue to hang on to those things as we travel this road. Thank you, again…and God bless you and your beautiful family. xoxo Sarah’s Aunt Kathy Darlin’ and Kolby (with a K after me)’s Granny Darlin.
