This is Esther and Jesse. you know Esther by now, she’s one of my favorite people ever… and also happens to be a photographer like myself. by now, you’ve heard me talk enough about her- how we met (at a bridal expo) how we did super 8mm of her wedding, how she photographed the birth of our son, and countless other tales of getting nutella crepes together and tracking down amazing finds at random vintage stores, and picking up stray homeless dogs along the side of the interstate. our conversations normally go like this:
“OMG i am DYING RIGHT NOW. you wont even believe what i found at this vintage store. seriously…. i’d sit down if i were you”
or:
“soooo i think i need to re-brand my company. what do you think about this logo?”
or:
“so Jesse just got this new tattoo*” *or motorcycle. or something else guy-cool.
or:
“seriously… you wont believe what i found at this vintage store…”
and a few days ago Esther really did find something incredible ( i mean, she always does). a giant tulle and chiffon wedding dress. we had scheduled their anniversary shoot for this weekend and she had been looking for something to wear other than Joan- the vintage green sequin dress we named after the MadMen character. and there it was… a dress that she happened to talk down the store clerk to forty dollars. FORTY.DOLLARS. people… this dress screamed Esther. i mean, it was literally tailored to her body. so of course, she brought it home, and Jesse just said “ummm…. is that a WEDDING dress? why do you need a wedding dress?” and she replied “because it makes me happy”
yes! DONE AND DONE.
so into the field we went…
we lost the sunlight so quickly, i was shooting at iso 5000 for these last couple (thank you D3s!) so we headed downtown to do a few shots with jesse’s motorcycle. i love love love that bike.
All in all, a great end to a saturday night! i love shooting with you guys and cant wait for you to photograph our little family! more blog posts to come about how to make your own session go smoothly and how to prepare well.
My oh my! The dresses are amazing, and the last two photos on the bike?! There are no words.
sigh. just when I think I couldn’t love you any more dear friend! You are an incredible artist and I cannot believe how fortunate I was to spot you across the way at that bridal expo 2 years ago. Cannot wait for your shoot!
