Let me just start off by saying that danielle and derek are the type of clients that a photographer hopes for. SO easy going, SO willing to do whatever, and SO appreciative. I always say that I’m not magical, i cant just POOF! create amazing images without the help of my clients. You’ve seen America’s Next Top Model… you know it’s all about both parties… a collaboration between photographer and the person(s) being photographed. and it doesn’t just happen when i get there and we start shooting. it happens well in advance, with consultation meetings, getting to know one another and styles, knowing the location, etc. it’s all the prep work that goes into a wedding before the big day. and Danielle and Derek were awesome. This girl was like “hey, i’ll do whatever. i mean, you want me to stand on that garbage can? SURE! let me just hike this dress up here…..” and in turn i fed off of her excitement and was all “do you think i can scale this wall and get up onto that balcony for a better perspective? i totally think i can. hang on.” and i did. with a little help from Derek (thanks!)
I had so many client inquiries for 10.10.10… and i’m SO happy that i got to photograph danielle and derek’s wedding at Push Ultra Lounge in St. Petersburg. Lets be honest, i couldnt have asked for a better venue. i am a total sucker for exposed brick, uplights, rooftop balconies and gardens…. AH! i loved the warehouse feel, the super old window cranks (check out the ring picture… they are placed on the hardware that opens the giant windows), and all of the interior design and artwork on the ceilings and walls. the thought crossed my mind that maybe if i just stayed in the bathroom after the place shut down that i could make it into a nice little home for myself… and NEVER LEAVE. hmmm convenient…
I had a fabulous time shooting your wedding you guys! thanks for making me feel so comfortable and at home on your big day!
xoxo

Ps… stay tuned for one more wedding on 10.10.10….. my good friend Esther (you’ll remember her from my birth pictures… she photographed Pierson being born!) who is a fellow photographer her in the tampa area got married to her lovely fiance as well on 10.10.10! and i happened to make it to the very end of their reception. dustin (my other half) was filming their entire day on super 8 film, so stay tuned for that as well. the August super 8mm films are coming up soon too! so much so much!

[...] Last week Push Ultra Lounge had me come in to take some commercial photography of their space. If you haven’t been to Push yet, it’s definitely a place you are going to HAVE to go to. It’s this gorgeous mix of vintage warehouse, plus ultra chic and modern decor, plus AMAZING installation artwork and paintings. There is an indoor space where the main club is situated, an out door bar with little cabana-like private areas with beautiful skylights above, and then a rooftop bar that overlooks the entire city of St. Petersburg. And, it’s gotten some serious celebrity love- with the likes of Paris Hilton, Flo-Rida, Danika Patrick, and DJ Sasha Grey all enjoying the amazing location, beats, and drinks. Plus, sometimes they host intimate rooftop acoustic events like they recently did with James Blunt. I can not imagine a better afternoon than hanging out at Push’s rooftop listening to an acoustic performance! It seems they can be everything all at once- an intimate daytime location for special events like those, an incredible night club, or the perfect venue for a wedding: remember Danielle and Derek’s wedding? .
