I still can not get over how charming these two are!  I am serious when i say i could not have found two easier people to work with, or more open to ideas. we decided to do a mix of digital photography and vintage film, like my grandmother’s 1917 box camera (Mark is holding it in the above picture trying to find me in the view finder… almost impossible!) holga toy cameras, and polaroid emulsion lifts. here are some teasers of the digital files, the film wont be back for a while, but i’ll post it as soon as it’s ready!

So, Evan has been planning this absolutely amazing wedding due to take place on October 24th. we’re shooting super 8mm filmography for them (it’s our official filmography launch!) while the amazing Missy McLamb is shooting photography.  go check out her work, it’s truly amazing!  I’m not going to get into all the details of Evan’s LUCIOUS wedding, but lets say when she sent me her story board that she’s submitting to various publishers (we wont name any names until things are a little more official) my mouth hit the floor and i got tingles on the back of my neck because it is all about vintage industrial glam.  many many many more details are coming soon about that…… :)

So we shot in her grandmother’s beautiful home on Snell island. turns out her home was built by Mr. Snell himself.  it’s probably the most eccentric and eclectic place i’ve ever been in!  everything from southwest style, to Mediterranean, to Rococo paintings adorn this home.  in all reality, i could go on and on about all the beautiful things i discovered inside the home (like Evan’s great great grandmother’s wedding dress and shoes!) but, c’mon, we’ve got lots of other things to cover.

back to the shoot:

so we had a 5 hour window in which we were able to shoot. Evan is back from Chile where she is project architect on some building projects there.  Can you believe she’s been planning this grand affair from CHILE?  yeah, i know…  i thought the same thing. and Mark is only in town for 3 days, and then it’s back to studying at Stanford for his MD-PhD degree.  For being incredibly stressed like i’m sure they were (they had to pack all of their meetings into 3 days! cake, priest, etc etc etc) they were completely calm and collected during our shoot.  if they had other things on their mind i would never have been able to tell.  After shooting at Evan’s Grandmother’s (who was an absolute hoot by the way… the grandmother that is… i thought for sure we were going to have a jitterbug lesson before we left that house…) we ventured out into downtown st petersburg, and then to the beach.  i’ll be posting more of those photos soon!

Stay tuned for more Evan and Mark…..

how do you make those albums?

September 9, 2009

hey guys!

check out this fantastic video from Cypress Albums, the company who makes our amazing, exquisite, fantastic, (insert another fabulous adjective here), albums.  i am really not exaggerating, i have completely fallen in love with them. if you’ve followed this blog for a while, you’ll remember that they are all completely eco friendly, as well as archival safe, and each one made by hand by a book maker artisan.

don’t take my word for it, check out how they are made here.

also, i can’t get enough of the super 8 mm filmmography they used.  so classy!  if you like this style of vintage film, we will also be offering super 8 mm filmography (we’re launching officially in october!) as an addition to our photography services.  i can not wait to post our first wedding on the blog!  it’s filmed on vintage cameras, with real film (film? what’s that?) and then transferred to digital media for you to easily view and share.

ENJOY!!!!
